Set in twenty acres of gorgeous parkland yet a short drive from the Royal Mile, Rhubarb is located in the prestigeous Prestonfield House Hotel in the heart of Edinburgh. Set in two oval Regency style rooms, Rhubarb is decorated in an impressive Baroque style with giant chandeliers, silk wall coverings, and ancestral portraits. The menu, created by chef John McMahon, uses classic techniques and modern inspiration to transform ingredients sourced from small artisan suppliers in a flavoursome and fuss-free style. Combining classic British and Scottish influences, dishes change regularly to reflect the seasons but include the likes of seared hand dived scallops with Jersey Royal potatoes, Black Forest ham moussaline and wild garlic beurre noisette or terrine of bacon collar and pork belly rillettes, caramelised chicory, parsley juice and piccalilli to start, followed by roast fillet of veal with pea, mint and pancetta salad and Dijon mustard dressing, fillet of line caught wild sea bass, spiced onion puree, langoustine tortellini and chive beurre blanc or gratinated onion potato and leek tart, Wensleydale cheese, spinach and herb glasage. The well concieved wine list offers over 500 choices, and with over 100 malts to choose from too, Rhubarb's drinks list is as impressive as the food.
