Close to the Royal Mile, La Garrigue is a low-key yet chic French restaurant in the buzzing heart of Edinburgh city centre. Smart hyacinth and white-panelled walls strike a stylishly understated tone, with simple wooden seating and bright windows offering views over Carlton Hill. Specialising in French country cooking exclusively from the wild and rural Languedoc region, which borders Catalonia on the sunny Med, La Garrigue offers genuinely alternative food whilst keeping the Gallic stamp of quality. Many of the ingredients for the menu dishes are unique to the Languedoc region and are sourced directly by the head chef, Jean Michel. Signature dishes include Glazed oysters with beetroot and Picpoul wine sabayon & Traditional fish soup with rouille , croutons and grated cheese, followed by Slow cooked pork belly, braised little gem and boulangere potatoes, Roasted black legged maize feed chicken, with lemon and rosemary, sautéed chanterelles, and sage flavored mash & legendary dish, Le Cassoulet comme à Castelnaudary; pork, lamb, duck confit, Toulouse Sausage and lingot beans served with a crispy walnut salad….a must!!
